A Stydy on The Frictional Force About Colored TMA and Self-Ligation Bracket

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare frictional forces about newly developed and ion implanted Colored TMA and seflf-ligation bracket. Also to compare with existing materials, variable sizes and different archwires(Stainless Steel archwire :
0.016
and 0.018 round, 0.016¡¿0.022 and 0.017¡¿0.025 rectangular, NiTi archwire : 0.016 and 0.018 round, 0.016¡¿0.022 and 0.017¡¿0.025 rectangular, Colored TMA archwire : 0.016 round, 0.016¡¿0.022 and 0.017¡¿0.025 rectangular), different methods of
ligation(stainless steel ligation, elastomeric ligation and self-ligation), 2 different bracket width(2.4mm and 3.4mm), 2 different bracket augulation( 0 and 5 degree) were used on the 0.018¡¿0.025 slot size standard bracket.
@ES Results were as follows:
@EN 1. Colored TMA shwed similar frictional force with Stainless Steel archwire but it expressed significantly less friction compare to TMA archwire with no relation of archwire size and method of ligation.
2. Selfligation method(SPEED bracket) showed significantly less friction on 0.016 and 0.018 round archwired compare to elastomeric ligation and stainless steel ligation(standard edgewise bracket) but it exgnificantly more friction on
0.0167¡¿0.022
and
0.017¡¿0.025 rectangular archwire.
3. More friction was significantly expressed with 5 degree angulated bracet(Dynalock, elastomeric ligation) compare to the non-angulated bracket.
